The ICSSC 2025 Organizing Committee mourns the passing of our esteemed colleague, Professor Ifiok Otung, who sadly passed away earlier this week after a period of illness.
Ifiok was our Technical Chair of International Communications Satellite Systems Conference (ICSSC) for many years. He brought his unparalleled expertise in space systems to the international stage, fostering collaboration across the global space community. His leadership and vision were instrumental in shaping the conference program and advancing satellite communications research worldwide. He was also a key an extremely valued member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Communications Systems Technical Committee (CMSTC).
Over a career spanning more than 30 years in higher education and research, Ifiok published over 200 peer-reviewed articles and served as a reviewer, editor, and technical program chair for the ICSSC conference.
His contributions to ICSSC will leave a lasting legacy, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working with him.
